Just as the Data Revolution is constantly changing and innovating, we try to refresh the ODW website regularly to respond to changing use. The latest refresh brings Spotlight features to the homepage, and the Spotlight page itself includes both a live feed from ODW Twitter and quick access to the What’s Being Said feature that highlights news and viewpoints from across the web. The Our Work page covers our three main work streams – Policy Advice, Data Support, and Monitoring. All the latest ODW publications are quickly available, sortable and searchable on the Publications page. ODW blog commentaries are found in one-click on the Blog page.
As is evident from our mission, ODW is a learning organization, always trying new ways to better serve. Three lessons we have learned from building this new version of our website:
- Measuring use both guides and helps build relevant content. For example, we know that the “What’s Being Said” is especially popular.
- We must take time to record and document our work, even when rushing to the next exciting project.
- Building a new website in-house is fully doable, and also helps improve the skills-mix and engagement throughout the organization.
