Open Data Watch is pleased to announce that the sixth edition of the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) is now online with results available for 192 countries. ODIN assesses the coverage and openness of official statistics to identify gaps, promote open data policies, improve access, and encourage dialogue between national statistical offices (NSOs) and data users.
Visit the ODIN website and take advantage of its rich features for exploring the results:
- Global rankings for each of the 192 countries. (See who made the number one spot).
- Country profiles that show detailed information about data coverage and openness scores, recommendations, lists of datasets used in the assessment, the national legal framework for statistics, and other related indexes. You can download the reports as a PDF under “Country Profiles”.
- Compare results by regions and income groups or between countries.
- Download data in multiple file formats or even use our customized scoring tool by clicking the gear icon.
- Request technical assistance and learn more about your ODIN scores and how to implement the recommendations on your country profile.
In March 2023, the biennial report will be available on the ODIN reports page. The 2022/23 report will analyze trends in data coverage and openness since 2016, looking at the ODIN results through a multifaceted lens. The report will include an updated version of the ODIN Gender Data Index (OGDI), measuring the availability and openness of gender data worldwide. The past three years of the COVID-19 pandemic have underscored the importance of sex-disaggregated and gender-relevant data for public health, women’s economic empowerment, public safety, and other topics. We hope the latest version of OGDI will support the ongoing global movement to open more gender data to help policymakers, citizens, and donors diagnose problems, advocate for solutions, and effectively allocate political and financial resources
