Hosted by the UN Economic Commission for Africa, the overarching objective of the Data Analysis for Development Planners course is to contribute to the development of a critical mass of highly skilled middle and senior policy officials and decision makers who will be suitably or better equipped to collect and/or analyze data for the purpose of national, sub-regional, and regional development planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. More specifically, the course will provide training on different methods and types of data collection and analyses. Open Data Watch (ODW) – Our Story in 2016

2016 was an exciting year at ODW. The Open Data Inventory (ODIN) was launched. Research expanded on the quality and openness of country strategies for statistics. New or deeper partnerships were forged with countries, agencies, and many other groups. As ODW takes stock of and celebrates 2016, we look ahead with great optimism to what can be accomplished to support SDGs through the power of open data.

National Platforms for SDG Reporting

Hosted by the UN Statistics Division, the objective of this meeting is to review best practices and to discuss and showcase possible solutions and to identify ways forward for their implementation. In addition, the meeting will produce recommendations and guidelines for basic requisites of national data platforms suitable to SDG follow-up and reporting.The event will bring together representatives from national statistical offices, international and regional organizations with programs or initiatives that support data platforms in countries, as well as donors and other providers of data platform solutions. Representatives of statistical offices will be both from countries where solutions are already implemented and can be shared with others, and from countries where no SDG data reporting platform has been established yet. International Forum on Migration Statistics 2018
