Hosted by Bloomberg, the overall theme for this year’s edition will be “better governance” or how data science can be applied to solve public interest problems. The data revolution has enabled businesses to provide better service, at a lower cost, and to more customers, at a scale of change not seen since the industrial revolution. While the corporate sector has effectively engaged the academic community in their problems, public and non-profit sectors have seen comparatively less application of data science methods. Since 2014, Bloomberg has been hosting this yearly conference on applications of data science to problems related to the social good.
