Time for Growth: Making Time Use Data Work for Economic Decision-Making (UN StatCom 2026)

Co-hosted by Open Data Watch, UN Women, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the Kenya State Department of Economic Planning, and the Gates Foundation, this side event at the UN Statistical Commission (UN StatCom) will convene policymakers and data experts to demonstrate how time use data can inform growth strategies and sectoral diagnostics, building on the Nairobi Action Plan. Drawing on experiences from African countries, the discussion will explore practical ways to institutionalize time use statistics, align policy demand with data systems, and advance dialogue between policymakers and national statistical offices.
