Conferences and Meetings

  • The annual meetings of the UN’s highest decision making body on statistical activities the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) often feature discussions on open data standards and activities. The 47th meeting of the UNSC featured an Open Data Friday Seminar on how NSOs can benefit from open data. Discussions from the 49th UNSC resulted in the designation of a subgroup to recommend changes to incorporate open data concepts in the Fundamental Principles of Statistics.
  • Open official statistics is discussed at side and main events at many of the major international data conferences: the International Open Data Conference and the World Data Forum.
  • The International Seminar on Open Data for the Sustainable Development Goals is for sharing best practices and understanding the challenges around making data in national statistical systems more open for the sustainable development goals.
