Data have the power to save lives, end poverty, protect the planet, and transform our world, but only if they are open and used. Open official statistics, includes important datasets that decision makers need to create policies, design programs, and monitor results. Collected through censuses, surveys, and administrative records, official statistics are the product of national statistical systems, which are confederations of official agencies that in most countries are coordinated by a national statistical office (NSO). Countries wishing to become open data champions and create a supportive open data environment in their countries can use this list of resources as a one-stop-shop for information on standards and guides, toolboxes, networks, and conferences related to open data for official statistics. This is a non-exhaustive list. If you have helpful resources to add, please get in touch with info@opendatawatch.com.
