SUMMARY:4th International Conference on Governance\, Crime and Justice Statistics
DESCRIPTION:Organized by the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica e Informatica (Peru)\, Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (Mexico)\, UN Office on Drugs and Crime\, and Centro de Excelencia para Informacion Estadistica de Gobierno\, Seguridad Publica\, Victimizacion y Justicia\, the Fourth International Conference on Governance\, Security and Justice Statistics seeks to promote dialogue among the actors involved in the production and use of statistical information on crime and criminal justice\, in order to increase availability\, quality\, the relevance and use of said data to improve the analysis and formulation of public policies. SUMMARY:Data Science Africa 2018
DESCRIPTION:This year\, the conference is being organized by the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (Kenya) in collaboration with Pulse Lab Kampala and various local and international universities\, research organizations and private companies including Amazon Inc. The event will start with a three-day summer school for ‘trainers of trainers’. The aim is for them to be able to serve as trainers in their local contexts using the “end-to-end” approach. A two-day workshop will then follow with paper presentations and interactive panel discussions. Panel discussions will unite a wide range of stakeholders\, including data scientists\, development practitioners and the private sector; this will provide a unique setting in which innovative solution driven ideas can thrive.
